A young woman visits an editor at a publishing house in order to present a novel. The meeting is the start of a love affair that makes the editor leave his wife, not knowing that the young woman has just become involved with a writer. The writer ends up in the emergency room after overdosing on sleeping pills. When he wakes up, he meets the wife of the editor - she's a doctor at the hospital. The tale spans over a full decade, during which the characters' lives cross paths through love and split again by deceit.
