Now more than ever, radical artists are needed to fight against oppressive governments and corporate greed. Ron English is a shining example of one such artist. While you may not recognize the name, his subversive visual style has become iconic. He’s known for taking classic American iconography and twisting it into works of haunting psychedelic beauty. In this short but wide-ranging documentary, filmmaker Constant van Hoeven takes us on a journey into his mind, enabling us to understand where this renowned style comes from. From childhood home movies of death-defying stunts to footage of an adult English installing illegal billboards, we are treated to a portrait of a man who truly thinks like no one else. But ultimately, behind all the bombastic antics, we get to know someone who is dedicated to getting people to rethink the images and ideas that they have been indoctrinated with since birth.
