It isn't entirely bad, but it's the kind of mystery film that stands and falls on atmosphere, which is something that a routine-man like Shadyac is utterly unable to induce. Thus, even a fairly solid premise, decent actors and decent music can't save the result.

I can't help but feel that watching Dragonfly is like eating an unseasoned meal. The film desperately lacks atmosphere and refinement, something that would nestle in the viewer and not let go. Yet it's not outright bad; it has decently written dialogues, and I had no problem with the performances of the film's characters. However, I can't give it three stars; I would need stronger impressions for that. The film just flew by me like a dragonfly... Overall impression: 40%.
