Kate i Tom doczekali się dwanaściorga pociech. Mieszkają na amerykańskiej prowincji i dzielnie stawiają czoła codzienności. Pewnego dnia Tom dostaje posadę marzeń, ale wiąże się to z przeprowadzką do Chicago. Nowa praca pochłania Toma, a Kate przygotowuje biografię. Oboje mają coraz mniej czasu dla dzieci, które nie od razu adaptują się do nowych warunków. Wydawca Kate zaprasza ją na spotkanie promocyjne do Nowego Jorku. Tom zostaje sam z dziećmi. Musi przejąć nad nimi kontrolę, co okazuje się trudnym zadaniem. (Canal+)

Cheaper by the Dozen is a run-of-the-mill family comedy for the mainstream viewer. A nice house with a big white dog, a likable mom and dad, kids horsing around and, of course, the message that family is the most important thing. More important than a career. Either someone is hanging from a chandelier or spraying white foam on someone else or clumsily doing some big thing and breaking all of the glassware in the process. Apparently no effort was made to come up with something new in the script. Why should there have been when these films require a minimal budget (no effects or grand production design) and can often make more money than big-budget action flicks? At least in the case of Cheaper by the Dozen, everything is professionally shot, balanced and thankfully brisk and short.
