Five workers' destiny from the Weiss Manfréd Factory of Csepel. 1916. Vilma, who took the side of the workers, is imprisoned. When she is released, only her faithful lover, Karesz, stands by her. 1919. The old doorman does not let the workers assault the director. During the Commune, Lisszauer calls the old man into his house, but after its collapse policemen force-feed him to death, utilising Lisszauer's idea. 1932. Jani and Kató win a weekend house on lottery. It turns out that they only own the building but not the furniture and the land. Friends help them. 1942. The illegal Communists Irén and Miklós pretend to be a couple. The man is rather strict with the woman. They are betrayed but Miklós is able to inform his comrades. He only confesses his love to Irén in the prisoners' wagon. 1944. Mrs. Csóti tries to refrain from protesting when the Germans evacuate Csepel. The Germans shoot at the crowd, her son dies.
