Dead Connection

Michael Madsen has played so many scuzzy villains in the past that it's a relief to find him as the hero of Dead Connection. Not that Madsen, as an LA cop on a mission, ever holds back in the violence-and-mayhem department. But this time, there's some justification in his actions--at least so far as the filmmakers are concerned. Madsen is on a one-man crusade against a wily killer rapist, who uses a telephone-sex business to pinpoint his victims. Lisa Bonet co-stars as the "Lois Lane" reporter who gets in too deep.
