Przypadkowy klient supermarketu Savmart nie zwróciłby większej uwagi na mężczyznę za ladą ekspresowego punktu fotograficznego. Wielu pewnie wcale by go nie zauważyło. Sy Parrish (Robin Williams) jest bowiem człowiekiem zamkniętym w sobie i nie budzi zainteresowania innych. Wyjątkiem jest piękna Nina Yorkin (Connie Nielsen), która od lat korzysta z jego usług powierzając mu do wywołania zdjęcia rodzinne. Dzięki nim Sy wie na jej temat prawie wszystko, na fotografiach uwieczniono bowiem intymne chwile z życia Niny, jej męża Willa (Michael Vartan) i ich dziewięcioletniego syna Jakoba. Sy nigdy nie miał rodziny i żyje w samotności, idealizuje więc Yorkinów, których uważa za małżeństwo doskonałe. Gdy wypracowany przez niego obraz legnie w gruzach, Sy nie zawaha się wkroczyć do akcji, by naprawić cudze błędy... (Syrena)

One Hour Photo is a visually cold, intrinsically disturbing and psychologically fragile film with a protagonist whom you get close to only just before the closing credits, when the strange and not very pleasant experience becomes a morality tale, which is not upsetting, but rather deeply appealing. Which is one of the key positives of the directorial approach to the whole film. A remarkable and original little work with excellent actors.

Mr. Parrish and his peculiar love for a fully functional family, with whom he experienced the last ten years through imagination and mainly photos. The actors were great, the music atmospheric, but unfortunately without a significant idea. Mark Romanek did not step into the Hollywood world very well, which was quite evident in his future assignments.

Decent, subtly crafted psychothriller that relies on Robin Williams' character acting. All other actors are interchangeable, but thanks to Williams' virtuosity, a disquieting, dark film about loneliness and the loss of life goals of an embittered man in the middle of a metropolis was born. The border between eccentricity and sociopathy is sometimes very thin... The screenplay is not that inventive, so it remains at three, albeit strong, stars. Overall impression 65%.

I have said it several times and it is simply true. Robin Williams was much better in his serious roles than in comedic ones. Here he once again delivers a great character, although it is unfortunately too flat due to the script, just like the story, which brings a few good ideas, but ultimately it is not something that dazzles you, that captivates you.
