Count Boroghy Gedeon would be happy to see Péter and Éva, two of his only relatives alive, get married, to keep all of the family fortune together before it is left to the inheritors. The count is busy acting as a matchmaker, therefore spreads the rumour of his death, indicating in his will that the heir and heiress are both supposed to stay in the manor-house for one month. They are also supposed to have all meals in each other's company, and, whenever they say good-bye, they are supposed to kiss each other. The two young people, having had an argument on their way to the manor-house, go out of their way not to comply with the provisions of the will, using a variety of plans, trying to get the other party into a situation which might mean loss of the inheritance. When they learn that uncle Gedeon is alive, there is no will to separate them any more. Now they seem willing to do as the old count wishes. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)
