Eevi is a slightly peculiar girl haunted by her inner demons and emotional liability. When her sister Ami tells her to move out because she wants more space for the relationship with her lesbian girlfriend, offended Eevi leaves in Ami's car. After she picks her first hitchhiker, things turn foul. This Finnish thriller, inspired by John Fowles' eponymous novel as well as by William Wyler's American adaptation, focuses on the tension of one unfortunate soul and on social problems. The minimalistic plot uses genre narrative for deeper purposes, after the fashion of the new Hollywood style. In contrast to the pleasant Finnish folk songs, the drama heads to brutal ending.
