Artwork made by two female artists, color folk drawings and black & white stills, are animated to create a tapestry weaving together vignettes of life in the village Kryvorivnya, in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine, where the novel Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors was once written and later filmed and where, to this day, the passage of time has its own pace. "Both for me and for Lida, the film's co-author, Pictograph felt sort of like coming full circle. The film is dedicated to my teacher, Martin Slivka, and also to my father-in-law, Zenon Mychajluk, who was forced to leave his home but never forgot where he came from," says Mišo Suchý.
