The bridge, which will become the world's largest two-storey highway, is being built day and night, unceasingly. During the nights convoys of super heavy trucks bring new gigantic construction elements to the site. During the days herds of workers swarm over the elements, carrying on their endless task. The nights are magical, while the days are hot, wet and dusty. And through the days the men can be heard singing. There is Chabelo, a little joker who laughs like Walt Disney's Goofy. There is El Grande, Chabelo's friend and a self-described former gangster and cocaine dealer. There is El Voyer, who spends all of his time gazing down the bridge in the hope of seeing a woman in her car flash her leg or even more. The worker's task is a metaphorical beast, that pants heavily in the centre of Mexico and never sleeps. The impression is further enhanced by the score which fuses with the sounds of construction and reminds of breathing. The most memorable element in the film is its final scene, which proves the project's incomprehensible magnitude.
