Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) i Dale Doback (John C. Reilly), mimo iż zbliżają się do czterdziestki, wciąż mieszkają z rodzicami. Gdy matka Brennana (Mary Steenburgen) wychodzi za mąż za ojca Dale’a (Richard Jenkins) i wprowadza się do niego, sytuacja zaczyna się komplikować. Wygląda bowiem na to, że mężczyźni zostaną przyrodnimi braćmi. Świat rozkapryszonych jedynaków nagle się rozpada, przyczyniając się także do rozpadu dopiero co zawartego małżeństwa ich rodziców. Brennan i Dale jednoczą siły i obmyślają plan, którego celem jest zażegnanie rodzinnego kryzysu. (HBO)

I like Will Ferrell most of the time, John C. Reilly only occasionally... But here they're both equal:they're as awkward as most of the film, in which probably only Mary Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins managed to entertain me. Otherwise, it was an unnecessarily roundabout, silly to the point of disgusting spectacle in the style of last year's Holmes & Watson.

Such a terribly predictable movie, but there's nothing to be done. There are scenes here that I liked and just the idea of J. C. Reilly and Will Ferrell as stepbrothers their age, living with their parents, is excellent. It's nothing revolutionary, but here and there I really had a good laugh. It's a shame that the scripts are so dull and don't focus on the story, not just the situations.
