A well-made bedroom farce has the versatile March as the hellraising, womanizing rake and rascal, Benvenuto Cellini, a talented artist who would rather dabble with other men's wives than pursue his literary and artistic career. He begins by paying attention to his model, Wray, then diverting most of his energy to wooing gorgeous Bennett, whose bumbling, sputtering husband, Morgan (in one of many fine performances) blithely ignores the cuckolding and chases after model Wray. Meanwhile, Cellini's enemies--and there are scores of them--headed by Louis Calhern, fight a number of duels and Cellini barely manages to escape death in some uninviting torture chambers.
