No matter how the first few episodes tried to convince me that it would primarily be about complaining about age and chasing younger people, Bill Lawrence eventually couldn't resist and returned to where he is best. To the waters of romantic-melancholic relationships, where the absurd humor of Scrubs, utilizing all possible human weaknesses and flattery, has the foremost place. Writing characters that are perfectly crazy and yet close like this truly requires skill. And although it seemed several times that in the attempt to eventually give up on a coherent plot, the scripts would fall apart into family-crazy episodes, the quality remained consistently higher during those six seasons than in the very beginning. An inexplicable phenomenon of a TV series and universal optimism in a twenty-minute package.
