W krainie Westeros królowie i królowe, rycerze i renegaci, kłamcy, a także ci o szlachetnym sercu toczą nieustającą walkę o władzę nad siedmioma królestwami. (HBO)

Gra o tron (2011)

angielski A few years ago, I was really looking forward to this epic fantasy series. Until the end of Season 4, I more or less enjoyed it, but then came a turning point. The writers started increasingly ignoring logic, and my favorite series was gradually turning into a farce, which often made me shake my head in disbelief. I hope I live to see the day when George R. R. Martin writes the ending so that I can read it, but I’m not counting on it... ()

Season 1 (2011) (S01)

angielski My impression of Season 1 is positive especially because I don't mind shows that are heavy on dialogue. The problem is that a lot of the dialogue was about nothing, which could have been solved by a greater involvement of Varys (an awesome character) and Tywin Lannister. As far as I've noticed, they always talk to the point. What annoys me about HBO is the ever-present soft porn in their shows. I certainly don’t mind an occasional naked nerdy girl, but the sheer number of nude scenes makes it almost boring. I applaud the intrigue and manipulation, it just needs more work on the action and atmosphere. ()

Nadchodzi zima (2011) (S01E01)

angielski After a long time, I am starting to watch Game of Thrones again, so that I can smoothly continue with the seventh season, which I haven't seen yet. The first episode has a solid pace and a decent atmosphere; the creators managed to introduce me to the characters relatively quickly (of course, only with a small subset of them) and roughly outlined the conditions in Westeros for me. They spiced up the ending with a flying scene that widens the rift between the houses. ()

The Kingsroad (2011) (S01E02)

angielski The pace of the second episode compared to the first part may have slowed down, but the plot clearly depicts the differences between the Stark and Lannister families and introduces a larger portion of intrigue and manipulation for the first time. Paradoxically, a hired assassin injects some life into the events at Winterfell, and Cersei's motives are clarified in her conversation with her son. This episode also reminded me of how annoying I found Lady Catelyn years ago, but my relationship with her has remained completely unchanged over time. ()

Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things (2011) (S01E04)

angielski In the fourth episode, Ned Stark initiates a private investigation into the death of his predecessor as the king's Hand and discovers an unexpected secret. The rest of the story serves as more of a backdrop for this matter, allowing only two major events to stand out: a knight's tournament and the arrest of Tyrion Lannister. Nonetheless, this episode was three times better than the previous one. ()

The Wolf and the Lion (2011) (S01E05)

angielski A superbly crafted episode that offered me everything I wanted - great atmosphere, tension, intrigue, and even high-quality action. I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole time. I was fascinated by the different approaches the characters took towards the potential threat of the Dothraki invasion. While the king wants to kill Daenerys, Hora has already started preparing provisions for the invaders. The only thing that managed to disgust me was the obligatory gay scene. I think HBO would do better if they abandoned all the soft porn they implant into all of their shows. Every viewer can satisfy their desires on the internet if they wish. ()

Złota korona (2011) (S01E06)

angielski If I really tried, I could probably find something to criticize about the sixth episode, but I just don't feel like it. The episode had a dense atmosphere, offered quality action, and thanks to the character of Tyrion Lannister, it had perfectly dry humor. I have heard many times that pregnant women have strange (for those who don't know this word, I provide its common variant: special) cravings, but Daenerys exceeded all my expectations. ()

You Win or You Die (2011) (S01E07)

angielski I had a great time again, the intrigues and manipulations are in full swing, no one trusts anyone and if they do, they regret it soon. That's exactly what I can handle. Moreover, the creators cast Charles Dance, also known as Lord Tywin Lannister, in the role of Vetinari... I mean, Charles Dance, and that could only please me. ()

The Pointy End (2011) (S01E08)

angielski The eighth episode, for me, wasn't as thrilling as the previous one, but it still belongs among the better ones. I consider the conclusion of the conversation between Ned Stark and Varys in the cell to be the most interesting moment of the episode. I really enjoyed Cersei's manipulation tactics, but the storyline with the northerners was somewhat weaker. ()

Baelor (2011) (S01E09)

angielski Another high-quality episode that provided the viewer with a decent amount of information about individual characters, there was also a second visit of Lord Varys to Ned's cell, which was equally interesting as the first one. The creators showed a nice, sly sense of humor and at the same time the ability to save money by letting both battles happen off-screen, I appreciate that, they really got me with that. ()

Fire and Blood (2011) (S01E10)

angielski The tenth episode was everything but the final. This episode, on the contrary, clearly opens everything, although it officially ended the first season. I really enjoy watching the conversations between Tywin and Tyrion, while the interaction between Tyrion and Shae is pure suffering for me. The storyline of Daenerys did not interest me much throughout, and surprisingly, the final scene was one of the most interesting in the entire first season. ()

Season 2 (2012) (S02)

angielski As a whole, I found Season 2 more interesting than the first season. I think a lot of it has to do with a greater involvement of Varys. Especially his conversations with Tyrion are a treat. One thing I like about this season is that the creators finally decided to let the audience watch some of the battles and not just observe gear being collected after it's over. I was annoyed by the endless wandering through the desert (Daenerys) or snow (Jon), and the character of Shae was extremely irritating, but despite these reservations I was pretty satisfied. ()

The North Remembers (2012) (S02E01)

angielski The first episode of the second season opens with a death in battle followed by wineboarding, from which it is clear that the second season probably won't be a walk in the park. Stannis Baratheon and his cohorts also made an interesting introduction, while the storyline of Daenerys and the remnants of Drogo's khalasar seems to be somewhat stagnant, but the episode as a whole worked excellently. ()

The Night Lands (2012) (S02E02)

angielski The plot was not as dynamic this time as in the previous episode, it was greatly slowed down by the return of conversations about nothing, but overall, nothing special actually happened, except for the biblical slaughter of innocents. Tyrion probably amused me the most, he can talk completely unrelated to the plot, but at least he's funny, Daenerys' storyline is traditionally boring. She's walking through the desert. It's been two episodes already. ()

What Is Dead May Never Die (2012) (S02E03)

angielski What did the third episode bring? A great conversation between Tyrion and Varys, a few solid conversations in which Tyrion participated, half-naked women (again), and two disgusting gossips, to which as much time is devoted as Theon received (not that he made use of it). Truth be told, I wasn't bored, but I didn't really enjoy it either. ()

Garden of Bones (2012) (S02E04)

angielski The creators opened the fourth episode with a battle that was truly epic, it's just a shame they didn't show it to me. It used to be funny, but now I no longer laugh. Daenerys surprised us, in the fourth episode she finally crossed the desert and HBO soft porn apparently transformed into sadomasochism. I was pleased with the sophisticated torture, Tyrion's speeches, and Tywin's evaluation of the situation. ()

The Ghost of Harrenhal (2012) (S02E05)

angielski The fifth episode impressed me more positively than the previous one. Although the storyline of Daenerys is quite boring, the events in Westeros saved the situation, where Arya chose the first of the three options and deer were running wild after one another. Although it wasn't anything amazing, I enjoyed it overall. ()

The Old Gods and the New (2012) (S02E06)

angielski Many heated situations filled the sixth episode and I had a great time because of it. This time, the plot focused on events from beyond the Wall to King's Landing, including Daenerys' storyline, so the episode seemed too short to me, I actually regretted that it didn't linger longer in some places. ()

A Man Without Honor (2012) (S02E07)

angielski The seventh episode was slightly weaker than the previous one because it focused too much on Jon's freezing journey, which was quite meaningless. On the other hand, I was pleased with Jaime's escape attempt, the conversation between Tywin and Arya, and I was extremely entertained by Sansa's storyline. The first period and the activities in the room were like at Rudná (for the inhabitants of Czech as at Václavák). Even the dog stopped by. Hmmm... ()

The Prince of Winterfell (2012) (S02E08)

angielski This time, the creators delivered a rather weaker piece to me, the situation behind the Wall is depicted in such a way that it mostly bores me, I find Shae deeply annoying, and I think there's no character in the series that annoys me as much as her, and the entire episode's plot didn't impress me at all, so I wanted to rate it with three stars, but then the conversation between Tyrion and Varys came with such dry humor that it sparked in places, and I raised it to four stars.
