Ti conosco, mascherina!

I hold this film in high regard as one of the few examples of Lída Baarová's work in fascist Italy. This costume comedy really evokes both Protectorate and Reich contemporary productions, reminding us how much these cinemas were influenced by each other. Lída herself is a natural part of the ensemble, at first sight indistinguishable from a real Italian. She’s wild, entertaining, and wonderful. It's not hard to believe that a whole group of men stop breathing by just looking at her. (11.03.2010)
