The Opera National de Paris mounted this lavish production of Jules Massenet's 1892 Werther, toplined by one of the superstars of the proscenium, "tenor of the moment" Jonas Kaufmann. The supporting cast includes such legends as Ludovic Tezier and Sophie Koch; film director Benoit Jacquot takes the reins of stage direction.
