This film is based on a collection of short stories published under the same collective title in 1884. MARRIED depicts all the essential aspects of the Strindbergian view of woman. His intense, often fanatical misogyny is there, as is an equally profound and genuine, lyrical devotion to womankind --especially in the trinity he always dreamed of: mistress, spouse, and mother all combined in one person.
