Episode 8 (2013) (S02E08)

angielski What I like about the writing for this show is that the story starts with characters about whom I know next to nothing, and for a considerable stretch, they seem to only complicate the plot without any apparent connection. Then, quite elegantly, everything falls into place. Peeking into the investigators' family lives often dilutes and slows down the plot in other shows. Here, it's just right – these glimpses provide the characters with the necessary depth. A quality episode. / Lesson learned: Watch out for gray mice. ()

Episode 9 (2013) (S02E09)

angielski The atmosphere was simply fantastic. I know I've said this many times before, but I have to give credit where it's due. The tension worked exceptionally well, and the story unfolded to my complete satisfaction, leaving no doubt about the final rating. Furthermore, the creators once again confirmed my belief that a true, passionate activist never asks; they always take action. If you've read my reviews before, you already know my stance on fanatics. / Lesson learned: If you stick your nose in other people's business, you might get slapped across it. ()

Episode 10 (2013) (S02E10)

angielski The finale of the second season was genuinely intense. It's a masterclass in tugging at the heartstrings of life-weary individuals, myself included. Unlike the excessive melodrama often employed by American filmmakers, which personally disgusts me, the descendants of Vikings opted for a different approach. The police action at the EU summit was already strong, but the raw ending was a real treat. / Lesson learned: Always keep the last bullet for yourself. ()

Season 3 (2015) (S03)

angielski The plot left a little to be desired towards the end, but the season still gets five stars from me (just like the previous two). I was quite concerned about the absence of Kim Bodnia, especially after the first episode. But Thure Lindhardt turned out to be a very good replacement. He gave the whole season a new lease on life, and I really enjoyed him in the role of the detective. As I’ve come to expect from the show, this season also had a perfectly grim atmosphere, great suspense, and occasional decent action. Things came to a satisfying conclusion even the third time around. / Lesson learned: I've never been to Denmark or Sweden, but Øresund Bridge feels like home to me now. ()

Episode 1 (2015) (S03E01)

angielski The Scandinavians are on a roll again, populating the first episode of the new season with numerous characters and crafting a plot that promises yet another intricate story. / Lesson learned: Do you want to be liked by everyone? Why? ()

Episode 2 (2015) (S03E02)

angielski The second episode made a more organized impression on me; the pair of investigators seem to have settled in, and the new guy looks like a good replacement for Kim Bodnia. The past is catching up with Saga, and the case is unfolding in the usual, intricate fashion. / Lesson learned: Don't turn down a dinner invitation; the body needs nutrients. ()

Episode 3 (2015) (S03E03)

angielski The third season only reinforces my belief that this show is a collection of quirky characters, and those who aren't weird are downright peculiar. But you know what? I love it. Thus far, it seems like the creators haven't exactly strained themselves to amp up the tension for the viewers. They're still banking on their tried-and-true formula - a top-notch Nordic vibe. The catch is, I've grown accustomed to this aspect of their work, so I kind of take it for granted now and wouldn't mind a little extra flair. I get it, I might be a tad ungrateful, but hey, who's spoiled me like this, right?! / Lesson learned: Keep things organized in both the workplace and the chill-out zone. 4*- ()

Episode 4 (2015) (S03E04)

angielski Yep, just like I mentioned in my last review, the characters who aren't quirky are downright peculiar. I think it's got something to do with the climate or the location. Those long winters seem to drive people towards unconventional forms of entertainment, perhaps as a defense against the melancholy. The cast of strange characters keeps growing, and I'm eagerly awaiting the creators to tie up all the loose ends in the finale, revealing that sick creature who's been hiding among them all this time. In the fourth episode, I found another target for my disdain. It's those paragons of virtue who cling to their own set of rules, firmly believing in their one "correct" perspective and attempting to mold the lives of others based on the warped ideals of today's society. These self-appointed life coaches generously offer unsolicited advice to everyone within earshot, armed with the confidence they've accumulated in their seemingly endless, sometimes even two-decade-long life experiences. / Lesson learned: If someone starts a conversation by claiming they mean well, make a quick escape. ()

Episode 5 (2015) (S03E05)

angielski I'm at a point where I can't decide whether the investigation itself or the side revelations not directly tied to the case are more intriguing in the third season. Regardless, I find enjoyment in both aspects, which is probably why I'm hooked on the series. This time around, the creators spiced things up by adding tension and a touch of action (albeit minimalist) to the already gloomy atmosphere, creating a blend that suits my taste. Plus, they managed to get under my skin with the character of the pushy, annoying, and downright unlikable hobbit. Nevertheless, Saga was undeniably in top form, and some of her interactions with the people around her managed to bring a smile to my face amidst all that gloom. / Lesson learned: Direct communication leaves no room for misinterpretation. ()

Episode 6 (2015) (S03E06)

angielski After catching up on the latest episode, I'm starting to feel like it's evolved beyond just a crime series. It seems like the creators are delving into a psychological exploration of "Nordic Climate Influence on Pathological Behavioral Changes." But you know what? It doesn't bother me at all because the show manages to seamlessly blend elements of both crime and psychological thriller genres. The season continues to impress with its quality storytelling, albeit convoluted, creating a fantastic atmosphere and even more finely portrayed characters. Overall, I'm really enjoying it. / Lesson learned: Who cares if people are being mean to you? If the six of you support each other, you can easily laugh off those accusations of schizophrenia. ()

Episode 7 (2015) (S03E07)

angielski The creators kicked the story into high gear in the lead-up to the finale – investigators scored crucial intel, and we got the usual dose of that well-crafted Nordic vibe, plus some extra tension and action. Episode seven didn't just keep up; it outshone the rest. An excellent episode that got me excited for what's next. / Lesson learned: Revenge is a dish best served cold. ()

Episode 8 (2015) (S03E08)

angielski The creators nailed it, and right when the ending was within spitting distance, they threw in a curveball, flipping the story on its head. I'm just chilling, trying not to let my jaw hit the floor. The vibe is top-notch, tension's there, clever plots too – I'm enjoying it all. / Lesson learned: One should not judge others based on appearance, but sometimes I just can't help it. ()

Episode 9 (2015) (S03E09)

angielski The second-to-last episode of the season left me a bit let down when the investigators chased an obviously bogus lead, even though it was clear as day to us viewers. That's what bugged me. I'm used to the Scandinavians throwing surprises my way, but they were obviously trying a different angle here. Instead of my jaw hitting the floor at the end of the episode, my reaction was more like, "Oh well..." Despite these gripes, I gotta give credit where it's due – the atmosphere was still on point, tension was there (even if it was messed up by the creators' decisions), and, reservations aside, I still enjoyed the whole deal. / Lesson learned: If you've donated sperm, don't be surprised if you get an unexpected visitor after years. ()

Episode 10 (2015) (S03E10)

angielski Despite a solid ending, the final episode left me a bit disappointed. Most of the time, I was completely satisfied – the vibe was great, the tension was on point, and I'd easily slap a five-star rating on it if the creators didn't pull out the most annoying cliché. I mean, come on, if I were skilled enough to calm down a murderous scumbag, I'd either deal with him once and for all or at least swipe away his weapon. What the creators came up with felt like a scene cut from some low-budget American thriller or horror flick, and it just ruined the whole impression for me. / Lesson learned: If you're on the heavy side, maybe think twice before trying to outrun a bad guy – better tackle him to the ground. ()

Season 4 (2018) (S04)

angielski That’s what I call a perfect final season. I had a great time, just like in all the three previous ones. I enjoyed the traditionally entangled plot, often leading the detectives to dead ends, but also the development of the individual characters, accompanied by the ever-present bleak atmosphere and well-managed suspense. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, there came a perfectly crafted finale, after which I was really sorry that there wouldn’t be any more seasons. Well done. ()

Episode 1 (2018) (S04E01)

angielski As soon as I started watching the first episode of the fourth season, my home immediately cooled down thanks to the fresh Danish-Swedish breeze from the sea. It has been almost three years since I last saw Saga and Henrik, but it wasn't noticeable at all. I was immediately surrounded by a familiar, high-quality atmosphere, and the gradually increasing tension was traditionally present. I was enjoying it all. ()

Episode 2 (2018) (S04E02)

angielski This time, I allowed myself to remove one star because I had the impression that the creators focused so much on the subplots and the presentation of obviously false leads that they somehow forgot to move forward with the main investigation. Yeah, I know they probably have it perfectly conceived, so I'm just nitpicking, but oh well. ()

Episode 3 (2018) (S04E03)

angielski Those five pieces deserve only a visit to the therapist, but the creators managed to succeed in everything they touched. In the previous episode, I criticized them for developing side storylines at the expense of the main story, and they immediately balanced it out perfectly with a well-balanced mix of both. A fantastic episode. ()

Episode 4 (2018) (S04E04)

angielski Although the fourth episode wasn't filled with events like the previous one, it had its very strong moments and definitely didn't disappoint me. What pleases me the most is that the creators once again stuck to their established procedures, so halfway through the final season, it's already clear to me that the series will remain among my top ten favorites. ()

Episode 5 (2018) (S04E05)

angielski The plot of the fifth episode followed similar paths as in the second installment, so I was prepared to give it four stars again. However, in this case, I enjoyed the actions of all the characters much more, so I ultimately decided to go for a full throttle. ()
