La Valse des continents

4.5 billion years compressed into 52 minutes: that is the basic numeral characteristic of this documentary about Oceania’s travels in time and space. Thanks to the slow pace at which tectonic movements occur, the time discrepancy represents no problem. There are two reasons: the viewers, thanks to an ideal dose of basic information, will be able to develop their own ideas about the metamorphoses of the Earth's surface. Moreover, they will discover that the exploration of the origins of continents is not just about a boring set of facts. The audience has access to a great deal of information connected with tectonic activity. This is due to the erudite narratives of the enthusiastic scientists who lead us through the visualisations of the processes that took place in the prehistoric era. In just under one hour we will travel through the key places of Oceania and gradually uncover the causal relations that have formed the Earth's surface into the shape we are familiar with today. On this journey some of our ideas will be shaken (“living stones” do exist!). At the end of our travels we will feel astonishment and humbleness in our greater understanding of the forces that, for most of the time, stay hidden from our sight, and therefore, enhanced by this fact, overlap all human fields of activity.
