The worship of the god of wine, Dionysus, has throughout history meant freedom and ecstasy. The film parallels ancient rites of worship with modern day night club culture: around campfires and on the dance floor, people gather to celebrate with the help of various stimulants to become a part of something bigger, something immaterial.
