The film features five stories on Roma communities in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. In the Bulgaria chapter, three children from a town in Western Bulgaria, their parents and teachers tell about their schooling expectations. The Czech story focuses on Jožka Miker, a Roma activist in the town of Krupka who has taken it upon himself to mentor a group of teenage Roma boys, some from broken homes. The boys help Jožka spread a message of acceptance through their rap and hip-hop music. The Hungarian chapter tells of a crisis facing traditional Hungarian Roma music, with many top musicians forced into becoming street performers to make ends meet. The Romanian chapter tells the story of a growing phenomenon among the country's Roma communities of converting to Pentecostalism. The story focuses on the villages: Fântânele, which has converted, and Alunișu, which has not. The Slovak story centres on Krásnohorské Podhradie, where an accidental fire, likely caused by Roma children, damaged a local castle, an event that brought out racial tensions in this small town near the Hungarian border.
