For a few years three polar explorers had been thinking about combining winter swimming with traditional polar travel. They made this a reality in March 2013 as they travelled to Spitsbergen island in the high arctic where they skied into the wilderness and made a short swim in the frigid northern ocean. From Prague they traveled over 3,000 kilometers and 28 degrees latitude. Their adventure begins in Longerbyen. Join them on this journey into the mysterious north where the bite of cold is constant and where other than man only two terrestrial land mammals exist. (Mezinárodní festival outdoorových filmů)

angielski Paradoxically, this is one of the most interesting documentaries from the #snowfilmfest series, but also one of the most clichéd. The Czechs simply wanted to swim in Svalbard and they prepared themselves in the Czech Republic. Just at the finish line they found an old Czech magazine and reminisced about the good old days under the Soviet Union. I had respect for the Slovak polar explorer, but I had a lukewarm feeling about this hobby. ()
