Anima Mundi is a film-poem about nature that explores the environment of the northernmost beech forest in the world. Atmospheric scenes that lack narrative links are dense depictions of forest impressions in the changing light, weather, lunar phases and seasons as small parts of a macrocosm. It features brilliantly focused images of birds, insects and the moon, which moves almost imperceptibly behind the branches and forms a background for the natural forest noise and birdsong. This merges with a musical background of complex melodic patterns in free rhythm into a single audio stream. Throughout the film, not a single word is uttered and the creator is forced into the role of observer and composer, whose only comment is the picture itself, leading to a form of experimental or abstract film. Natural props that act in the role of almost pure forms serve to induce harmony and reveal the discreet charms of gently flowing natural cycles. (Academia Film Olomouc)
