Railways: Ai o Tsutaerare Nai Otona-Tachi e

Toru Takishima is a railway driver who has devoted his whole life to his job, then realizes that he has reached the age of 59. His wife Sawako had always been supportive of him in her role as housewife, and is now 55. Toru will reach mandatory retirement after only one month, and the couple is looking forward to their retirement years. Then one day, Sawako proclaims that she will return to the nursing career that her role as housewife denied her, but Toru is unwilling and unable to understand the depth of her conviction. The two of them have a serious quarrel, and Sawako suddenly moves out of their home. The rift between them reaches the point where Sawako gives Toru official divorce registration documents. (Shochiku)
