Racing Extinction

Opisy(1)

Louie Psihoyos's The Cove exposed viewers to the brutal practice of dolphin slaughter. The Academy Award-winning director now bears witness to a global problem - mankind's role in precipitating mass extinction, potentially resulting in the loss of half of the world's species. Believing that images can stimulate empathy and in turn change behavior, Psihoyos joins forces with activists, scientists, nature photographers, and cutting-edge inventors to draw attention to the dangers we face. While covert operations reveal the horrific black-market trade in endangered aquatic species, the film's broader lens uncovers the even more disastrous consequences of human activity, chiefly the release of ocean-killing methane and carbon from energy consumption.
With stakes as high as the survival of life on the planet, Racing Extinction dispenses with apathy or fatalism to emerge as an urgent, affirming call to action to stem the tide before it's too late. (Sundance Film Festival)

angielski After a long time, a stunningly impressive documentary that will make every viewer pause for a moment and think about where humanity is actually going slowly but surely, and how it treats Mother Nature (if they haven't already, of course). What got me the most were the shark fin and manta hunting shots – I'm not a vegetarian, I eat meat occasionally, but too much is too much. The film has both an instructive and an appealing function, both of which are really strong and emphatic. In short, a very evocative ninety-minute look at (not only) the current situation and the relationship between people and the environment that certainly didn't leave me cold. ()

angielski A very interesting documentary, which should be watched by everyone who doesn't care about this world. It's emotional and it can move you about how dumb people are and how they're really destroying the world just for money, nothing else. This is a good way to show people. But I have to say that the title song at the end almost ruined the whole impression for me. Sickeningly sentimental. ()
