Weekend Warriors

What was it like to be a Viking warrior, a soldier at Waterloo or a serviceman during WWII? Meet the men and women who fill their weekends finding out the battle re-enactors. Each episode tells the story of a single battle from a different period of history and takes an immersive look at life and death on the battlefield as our meticulous and often obsessive re-enactors attempt to recreate history. As they wield pikes, fire muskets and throw grenades there is an atmosphere of explosive action as the battle swirls around them. But behind the scenes we find out just how much hard work, dedication and sheer obsession it takes to paint a perfect picture of the soldiers and their followers from the great conflicts of history and we are swept along by the passion and knowledge of the weekend warriors.
