When Bo, a handsome and gifted high school student, suddenly becomes the sole caretaker for his little sister, Tina, he foregoes college to dedicate his talents to the craft of magic. He wows audiences as a street magician but still has to make ends meet, so he cleverly uses his skills to peddle drugs for the local dealer, Angelo. However when Bo falls for Holly, an adorable teenager in need of support, he decides to get out of the drug business, causing Angelo to threaten his family. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it more than I expected. A pretty gritty and realistic look at a young drug dealer who gets into trouble, which is always a risk in this line of work. On the plus side, he's a street magician, so we get some interesting tricks, the chemistry with his beautiful girlfriend works, and the finale builds up nicely, and there's some violence, for which I'm willing to add to the rating. A good little film. 75%.

Sure, there's a bit of racial issues peeking through in the film, but it's still an action-oriented movie, almost of a thriller nature with sci-fi elements, about a boy who takes magic a bit further than others. The film gradually builds up to what must eventually come. Basically, it’s a darker Kick-Ass from the ghetto.
