"In Sydney, they call me a blackfella; at home they call me a whitefella. I don't know who I am." Zach is a 10-year-old boy caught between two worlds: his urban Australian upbringing and his family's Indigenous roots. Insisting that Zach reconnect with his heritage, Zach's father begins to prepare him for the traditional rite of initiation to manhood. But as Zach hits his teenage years, painful memories from his parents' divorce and growing up surrounded by racism cause a rebellion to surface that just might steer Zach down the wrong path. Shot over six years, this is a formidable, intimate and heartrending portrait of a young boy grappling to find his identity, heal from his past and live up to his father's desires. Will Zach come to terms with his personal struggles and embrace his Indigenous roots? (Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival)
