Under the Skin

Since 2008, thousands of young Africans have been kidnapped and sold to traffickers in the Sinai. Confined to detention camps, the hostages are chained together, where they are tortured and raped. To be released, their families must pay an exorbitant ransom of $30,000, an amount almost impossible to raise. It's pay or die. It is estimated that more than 12,000 hostages have perished in the Sinai desert, their bodies buried in mass graves. For two years the filmmakers met with survivors who had never spoken about their experience, until now. (Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival)
