After failing to be admitted into the renowned Sao Paulo Symphonic Orchestra, talented violinist Laerte is forced to give music classes to teenagers in a public school in Heliopolis, the biggest favela of Brazil. The film won’t rock your world but on the other hand it is good to watch something we can guess ahead once in a while. Even in a Brazilian slum, you can find few normal, nice people who want to change the world of a few youngsters. In this case it is by music. However, the life conditions there are hard and some people are not able to deal with that. The Violin Teacher is a perfect example of that but despite the not entirely pleasant characters, I was still able to enjoy the movie, especially because of the beautiful music.
