Patience Philips jest cichą, nieśmiałą, przepraszającą, że żyje kobietą. Pracuje jako projektantka w słynnej firmie kosmetycznej, która zamierza wprowadzić na rynek rewolucyjny krem przeciwko starzeniu. Patience przypadkiem odkrywa mroczny sekret swojej szefowej i od tego momentu już nic nie będzie takie same. Dziewczyna odkrywa w sobie drugą postać, Kobietę-Kota, będacą jej zupełnym przeciwieństwem. Kocia dzikość i niezależność sprawiają, że balansuje ona na cienkiej linii między dobrem a złem. Sprawy dodatkowo komplikuje policjant Tom Lone, który zakochany w Patience, jednocześnie nie potrafi się oprzeć fascynacji Kobietą-Kotem, która wydaje się być winna większości przestępstw, jakie ostatnio wydarzyły się w mieście. Halle Berry is the only thing that salvages this film with its retarded screenplay, stupid characters and imbecillic dramaturgy. She is the only one of the actors who manages to give her character any detached humor; she doesn’t come across as stiff and awkward, and mainly...she’s sexy as hell. If it weren’t for her, watching Catwoman to the end would be literal torture despite the appealing though occasionally overwrought visual aspect (which, however, was definitely more appropriate here than in Vidocq) and the digital fluff.

The film was preceded by a truly terrifying reputation as the worst comic book adaptation of all time, with incredibly scathing comments, so I watched it out of sheer curiosity and masochism. The film is not as terrifying as its image suggests, but that doesn't mean it's a decent genre piece at all. The script is terrible above all else, and neither the direction nor the casting can save the film from the mud. A justified flop for one of the most expensive films of the year, which harvested golden raspberries and was an exceptionally bitter pill for the already successful and Oscar-winning Berry... Overall impression 25%.

This really is seriously bad shit. The visuals are terribly exaggerated, but ok; the wannabe dynamic camerawork is much worse, making almost every action scene a nightmare to watch. The lobotomized screenplay doesn’t help much. Halle Berry is sexy until she puts on that awful costume.

The only thing that saves it from being utter garbage is Halle Berry in a leather outfit and Pitof's unusually conceived visual stylisation of the film.

Two and a half stars in this case - unlike the genre-related Elektra - I'm rounding down. I didn't mind Halle Berry (she rehearsed her cat movements nicely, as well as various gestures and facial expressions - like staring at the fish in the aquarium) or Pitof's super-video direction (say what you want, but the guy knows how to create atmosphere - the resurrection of Catwoman is a great example). What sinks the film is the script. The silly cosmetic story isn't even remotely interesting and seems like something out of a parody, some of the characters (the super cop, the annoying gay work colleague) made me want to murder them with my gaze. Even Sharon Stone, who was tolerable for most of the film, becomes so horrifyingly unbearable at the end that one gets sick. This is a missed opportunity.__P.S. Klaus Badelt's music was great. But why does she play annoying RnB during the fights instead her music?__P.P.S. Of course, Michelle Pfeiffer still remains the only real movie Catwoman. But we'll see if Nolan and his third Batman do anything about that.
