Evening in a conventional, quiet suburb: What is happening behind closed doors? How many households are filled with conflict? The introductory montage of taped calls to a women's help line, recordings of verbal abuse, and introspective testimony of men after an explosion of aggression evokes the atmosphere of the hidden world of domestic violence. In Australia, support groups are forming for men who are governed by anger but who are accepting responsibility for the disrespect previously shown to loved ones. The documentary interweaves the stories of 3 such men with the personal experience of 2 therapists. The group goes through purgatory, after which the men should be ready to establish a new relationship with their families. (One World)
