Busy parents take their son to visit relatives in southern Bohemia. Milan is curious about his grandfather – he's heard a lot of tales about him at home. Most often it's that he behaves "like a child". The boy isn't disappointed by his first impression. In fact they couldn't have come at a better moment – his uncle Václav and his aunt are chasing a pig in the courtyard. Ferda is not an ordinary pig for fattening. He's also Grandpa's friend, which is why Grandpa sometimes lets him out to run. It's here that the tale begins to unfold; the elderly may not move around very well, but they've got good advice for teaching the young to enjoy each day, to see and recognize the beauty that others don't see (perhaps with the aid of a rainbow marble), or that others see differently...
