Human life is often far too short to witness the changes and developments in our landscapes. However, landscapes have their own pace, expression and behaviour. They are constantly evolving and are able to drastically react to changes humans so inconsid- erately inflict upon them. This fourth episode of Silent Threats, the outstanding popular science documentary series from the Czech Academy of Sciences, shows specific cases in which our seemingly tranquil natural surroundings can become a threat, very often due to our own actions. The film shows how Czech geologists observe landscapes and what information they are able to gather from them. It also focuses on real events that have recently taken place in the Czech Republic. These include the landslides on the D8 highway and in the village Poláky, near the Nechranice reservoir. Czech experts and leading scientists from the Czech Academy of Sciences provide commentary throughout the film. (Academia Film Olomouc)
