Nicknamed “America’s Nightingale,” Ecuadorian singer Julio Jaramillo recorded over 4,000 songs in a variety of genres (boleros, tangos, even rock, among others) and composed at least 30 songs during his illustrious, but brief, career. Through interviews with fans, musicologists and friends, and archival footage of his performances, Rodolfo Muñoz humanizes an artist whose fame as a womanizer and alcoholic at times overshadowed his musical contributions.
