Spartacus (2010)

angielski Starz! took inspiration from the success of HBO, FX, and Showtime to make a new Spartacus series full of action, blood, and raunchy sex. In the beginning, they wrapped it all up in a neat digital package and stories from a gladiator school where everyone has their own dreams and goals. That in and of itself might have been interesting enough - less so for me - but I have to pause to reflect on the excellent actors in the key roles. They are, after all, the main spicy attraction. The perfect couple, Batiatus and Lucretia, are played by John Hannah and Lucy Lawless, who work together to enhance the best of their careers. John hasn't just been the Mummy sidekick and Lucy just Xena for a long time. Although Xena was a character with so many faces that most actresses dream of. It's almost unbelievable how natural all the scenes feel, with death struggles and never-ending sex in many ways being an integral part of it all... The nudity is not outrageous and action is a necessity. Lucy reveals all to give a hint of more... how is that possible? And of course, the intrigue of Ilithyia Viva Bianca is very much on point. Andy Whitfield in the lead role initially looked like he was going to be the weakest link, but he evolves along with his character and gradually becomes another elite favorite of the show. It would have been a shame if he hadn't made it even halfway, although, of course, certain stages of his character development are less believable. Of the directors, Michael Hurst is the absolute best, and his interpretation of the rain bearer was breathtaking, and the fight with the giant was the most mythical. Joe LoDuca also logically confirmed his high standard as a musician. Thanks to the perfect Gods of Arena prequel, I've survived the wait for the new series Spartacus Vengeance very nicely, and I settled for the opening episodes Blood and Sand, which fell far short of the delight and solace of the second half of the series. Spartacus is the direction of the modern television drama. The story of the revolution of the third failed slave revolt in ancient Rome does not speak so much to today as the defiance of nobility, intrigue, ambition, and lust. ()

Blood and Sand (2010) (S01)

angielski The Red Serpent The opening episode is just a cautious step toward the main plot. It’s something like a background to Spartacus' story, the beginning of his hatred for Claudius Glaber and his love for his wife Sura. The visuals starkly interpret the popular look of 300, but that very quickly disappears from the face of the franchise, which is just as well. Only the entrance of the main bitch, Glaber's new wife Ilithyia, can be described as engaging. Sacramentum Gladiatorum The confused Spartacus meets Varro, once a free citizen, now a friend in the Ludus under Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Batiatus. Slowly, Batiatus' wife Lucretia is also gaining ground, captured only as a dangerously sexy washcloth with claws retracted. Legends While it appears that Spartacus will be staying in the Ludus for some time, legends are told about local champions and their principal opponents. Lucretia learns how to handle the provocative and at the same time very naive Ilithyia. Crixus falls in love with Lucretia's personal slave Naevia and competes with Spartacus in the arena. The Thing In The Pit A game on the verge of bankruptcy is being played, which nevertheless opens the hearts of both Lucretia and Batiatus. The confusion and delirium in Spartacus' mind are nothing compared to the bond that Lucretia and Batiatus have with each other. There is no barrier that can separate them. Shadow Games Lucretia blossoms like the noonday sun with every new thought of coitus in her lover's arms. But she never stops loving Batiatus - more than her life itself. Along with the preparations for the duel with Theokoles, the feud between Spartacus and Crixus begins to boil, Doctore's secret is revealed and Solonius finally cuts his own branch out from beneath him. Director Michael Hurst's abilities reach new heights. The series is definitely captivating - all my previous criticisms have been forgotten. Delicate Things Images of betrayal, a few wasted lives, and the turn of several characters to Tartarus. Batiatus, in his blindness, will not know for a long time where he went wrong. However, Ashur will probably become immortal. He's out there dreaming of a gay idyll in freedom at the mercy of Barca. And Sura? The last remnants of 300 left with her. Great and Unfortunate Things It is perhaps too spiritual a work. Spartacus mourns and trades his own identity for his wife's faith. The real world beyond the walls of the Ludus is weighing on Varro and Doctore suspects betrayal in the Barca departure case. Ilithyia is becoming unmanageable. Lucretia has too little room for her own magic. Mark of the Brotherhood The detective story passed by just as quickly as Crixus seized the opportunity to prove on every front that he was capable of competing with a true champion. The heavens opened over Lucretia, Spartacus survived Ilithyia's assassination, and Ilithyia herself was truly distressed by a wasteful social event. And Ashur? We know how it is with these people. He's only looking out for his own bag of money. Whore This is one of director Michael Hurst's highlights in the series, and after cutting a perfect turning point in all the developments so far along with the creation of Theokola, he went on to take on another massive task - the destruction of Ilithyia. Lucretia and the bowels of the House of Batiatus became a veritable slough of vice, and while the high-ranking Licinia breathed her last, Lucretia committed herself to a new friendship. One that was meant to bind her and Il together forever. Party Favors Unfortunately, this episode did not bear the fruit that Batiatus and his appetite for a political career had hoped for. The youthful Numerius has become a mere instrument in Ilithyia's revenge, which she had vowed to wreak on Spartacus long before he himself became champion of the noble city of Capua. You can't resist the lust of a young panic, but it is a great pain that this coldly calculated maneuver cost the life of the most human gladiator of all, the valiant Varro. Old Wounds In retrospect, it appears that the fundamental mistake in Batiatus' path to power was his elimination of Lucretia having knowledge of his plans. He sealed his own future with the senseless murder of Sura. Yet it is clear from the example of the contrition he showed in the Varro case that he never acted blindly. He was blinded only by his own desire to overcome himself. The return of Spartacus to his old Thracian nature is due to chance and the selfish love of the slave girl Mira. Surely even the oily Ashur could not have expected such a thing. Crixus' comeback is just the cherry on top of the ride to hell represented by the last three episodes of the epochal Blood and Sand series. Revelations With the anticipation of the finale comes the brilliant departure of good friend Solonius, Ilithyia's meeting with her dear husband, and Spartacus' deliberate preparation for revenge. The beautiful widow of Varro refuses financial help from Spartacus and becomes a slave in the house of Batiatus. What can be missing in order to find happiness? Nothing but a decisive end to the forbidden love of a gladiator and his personal slave by the Dominus. Kill Them All The bloodbath finale that has everything. To make the final story of the gladiatorial uprising and the slaughter of the Roman nobility more attractive, the narrative is split into a series of flashbacks and there is something for everyone. Mira claims coitus from Spartacus, Varro's widow Aurelia takes revenge on the young Numerius, Crixus takes revenge on Lucretia, and Ilithyia gains the impression of absolute superiority... Doctore is expecting freedom, so he gives Ashur a few minutes of his time. Of course, the left-wing Spartacus speech must be heard, and we will thus meet the survivors again on January 21st (27th), 2012. () (mniej) (więcej)

Legendy (2010) (S01E03)

angielski While Spartacus is expected to stay among the people for some time, legends are told about local champions and their formidable opponents. Lucretia learns how to handle the provocative and at the same time very naive Ilithyia. Crixus falls in love with Lucretia's personal slave Naevia and competes with Spartacus in the arena. ()

Igrzyska cienia (2010) (S01E05)

angielski Lucretia blossoms like the midday sun with every thought of coitus in the arms of her lover. But she never stops loving Batiatus, more than even her life. Together with preparations for the duel with Theokles, the dispute between Spartacus and Crixus begins to boil, Doctore's secret is revealed, and Solonius definitively cuts off his own branch. Director Michael Hurst's art reaches new heights. The series is definitely getting under my skin, and all my previous criticisms are forgiven. ()

Sprawy istotne (2010) (S01E07)

angielski It is perhaps too much of a spiritual work. Spartacus mourns and exchanges his own identity for the faith of his wife. The real world behind the walls is reaching Varro and Doctore senses betrayal in Barca's departure. Ilithyia is becoming uncontrollable. Lucretia has too little space for her own magic. ()

Znak braterstwa (2010) (S01E08)

angielski The detective story passed as quickly as Crixus seized the opportunity to prove on every front that he is able to compete with a real champion. The heavens opened above Lucretia, Spartacus survived Ilithyia's assassination attempt, and Ilithyia herself got into trouble at a lavish social event. And Ashur? Well, we know how it goes with such people - he only looks out for his own money bag. ()

Ladacznica (2010) (S01E09)

angielski The episode Whore is among the director Michael Hurst's finest works on the series. After he made a perfect turning point in all the previous developments together with the downfall of Theokoles, he continued with another decisive task - the destruction of Ilithyia. Lucretia and the bowels of Batiatus' house have become a true den of vice and while the high-ranking Licinia took her last breath, Lucretia pledged to a new friendship. One that was meant to bind her and Ilithyia together forever. ()

Dary dla gości (2010) (S01E10)

angielski The episode Party Favors unfortunately did not bear the fruit that Batiatus and his appetite for a political career had hoped for. Young Numerius became just a pawn in Ilithyia's revenge, which she had promised to carry out on Spartacus long before he became the champion of the noble city of Capua. The whims of a young nobleman cannot be stopped, but it is a great pain that this only coldly calculated maneuver cost the life of the most humane gladiator of all, the brave Varro. ()

Stare rany (2010) (S01E11)

angielski From a retrospective perspective, it is shown that the fundamental mistake in Batiatus' path to power was to eliminate Lucretia from knowing his plans. He sealed his own future with the senseless murder of Sura. And yet, from the example of pity he showed in the case with Varro, it is clear that he never acted blindly. He was blinded only by his own desire to overcome himself. The return of Spartacus to his old Thracian nature is due to chance and the selfish love of the slave girl Mira. Something like this certainly could not have been expected even by the cunning Ashur. The comeback of Crixus is just a cherry on top of the ride to hell presented by the last three episodes of the epic series Blood and Sand. ()

Odkrycia (2010) (S01E12)

angielski With the expectation of the finale comes the brilliant departure of the good friend Solonius, Ilithye's meeting with her dear husband, and Spartacus's conscious preparation for revenge. Varro's beautiful widow rejects Spartacus's financial aid and becomes a slave herself in Batiatus's house. What more could you want? Nothing, except for the decisive end of the forbidden love of the gladiator and the personal slave Domina. ()

Śmierć wszystkim (2010) (S01E13)

angielski A bloodbath finale with all the trimmings. To spice up the final story of the gladiator uprising and the massacre of Roman nobility, the narrative shatters into a series of flashbacks and everyone will truly enjoy themselves. Mira demands coitus from Spartacus, Varro's widow Aurelia seeks revenge on young Numerius, Crixus avenges Lucretia, and Ilithyia gains the impression of absolute superiority... Doctore expects freedom and therefore dedicates a few minutes to Ashur. Of course, the left-wing Spartacus speech has to be in there, so we will meet again with those who survived on January 21 (27), 2012. ()

Zemsta (2012) (S02)

angielski Fugitivus With a new face come old quality. Lucy Lawless' acting performance is followed by one epochal plot twist after another. All conceivable fears are allayed. A Place in This World They mixed up fate nicely and the past and the present were perfectly intertwined. Ashur surprises us with his loyalty to the dominion. Only Ilithyia shouldn't have hesitated... The Greater Good Ties old Gods of the Arena stories with new points from Blood and Sand. Nevia found herself and the new recasts are starting to chirp more and more. We need to rise above the past and focus on the new faces. Viewers familiar with the power of The Greater Good from Tapert's previous series will know from the first moment where they stand. Even after two decades, that message has not changed. If it is not worth fighting for the individual, there is no point in living an empty life. Empty Hands This has totally restored my faith in why I should give Spartacus my full attention. Ilithyia is finally becoming the new dominatrix par excellence. The orgies are great, the plot twists are breathtaking. And the king of all kings is Joseph LoDuca. Libertus The best type of craziness, from A-Z. Chosen Path A calmer game, new cards are dealt, the calm before the next epic storm. The assassin from Egypt promises much, as do the new rules in Glaber's house. Sacramentum After episodes Empty Hands and Libertus, another 100% game of intrigue, speculation and revenge. It adds incredible depth, power, and tension. No one is the master of their own destiny - everyone must first destroy everyone around them. Blood for blood. Balance It gives priority to exposure to a multitude of characters and there is little time for that which is essential. No one is interested in Ilithyia, but she survives because she is the mother of the future son of Spartacus himself. Thanks to Lucretia's sacrifice, Seppia finally discovers Glaber's treachery. In Spartacus' camp, there is a time for love and betrayal and hope for a better tomorrow. Monsters TJ Scott for president for bloodbath! Wraths of the Gods Behead the dramaturgist! ()

Większe dobro (2012) (S02E03)

angielski The episode The Greater Good connects old stories from Gods of Arena with new points from Blood and Sand. Nevia has been found, and the new recasts are starting to clash more and more. It is necessary to rise above the past and focus on new faces. Viewers familiar with the power of The Greater Good from previous Tapert series will know from the very first moment what is going on. This message does not change even after two decades. If it is not worth fighting for individuals, it is pointless to live an empty life. ()
