August 16, 2005, a plane from the Columbian company West Caribbean Airlines linking Panama to Fort-de-France, crashes in the mountains of Venezuela It is the biggest air disaster that has struck France A total of 152 French individuals lost their lives (individuals from Martinique who were returning from a week's holiday) and the six Columbian crew members There were no survivors 152 deaths in Martinique, it is as if a metropolitan city of 20,000 inhabitants was wiped out from the world map in an instant A huge wave of emotion immerses the entire society, crossing through the old division between the metropolitan French and Dominican Republic islanders That summer, it is whole France who communicates with a powerful momentum of solidarity The President Jacques Chirac decides to establish the drama in the rank of national mourning A first for an air catastrophe After more than three years of endless waiting for the families of victims, the investigation is nearing completion and the file is about to finally leave the world of technical experts to enter the word of justice The truth about the exact circumstances of the tragedy remains to this day still very confidential and confined among the investigators And this truth is terrifying This film, combining investigations, testimony and re-enactment scenes, is meant to reveal the incredible scenario that led to this catastrophe Implicitly, it also portrays a humane dimension experienced through the eyes of the parents of the victims The year 2010 will mark the fifth anniversary of the plane crash of the West Caribbean.
