Uh-Oh

Phyllis Brooks is beautiful, dutiful and bored. When she first met Daniel, she loved his quirky, nerdy ways. So, she married him and was the contented Los Angeles housewife. He works at a computer company and pays the bills. He’s driving her nuts. He won’t drive and his idea of fun is watching wildlife channels. Phyllis grows increasingly antagonist. When she looks at him dressed in stripped shirts and too short ties, she wonders how she ended up with this escapee from a Pee-wee Herman movie. Phyllis has no family and no relationship with Daniel’s family so she’s pleasantly surprised when he suggests they have dinner with his estranged twin brother, Murphy. Daniel cancels, but Phyllis and Murphy meet anyway. Charming Murphy is too much for Phyllis to resist. Her daytime hobby becomes sex with Murphy. A neighbor sees Murphy, but Phyllis assures him the boy is clueless like Daniel. After a year, Phyllis confides she wants to leave Daniel and that if he’s killed – there’s a million dollars stashed in the house for the taking. Murphy first questions his lover’s loyalty but like any shady, greedy sibling, he moves past his doubts and agrees to make his brother disappear. (Pan African Film Festival)
