Po przedwczesnej śmierci ojca Saltanat jest zmuszona zmienić swoje życie i z sielskiej, pięknej wsi przenieść się do okrutnego i cynicznego miasta. Musi zdobyć pieniądze na spłatę długu, który zaciągnął jej ojciec, aby uratować matkę przed więzieniem. Życie w mieście okazuje się zupełnie inne od tego, co jej obiecano. Saltanat nie załamuje się tylko dlatego, że ma przy sobie wiernego przyjaciela z dzieciństwa i kochającego ją Kuandyka. Choć wygląda na to, że wszystko idzie pod górkę, Saltanat i Kuandyk nigdy się nie poddają. (Warsaw Film Festival)

A beautiful girl and a nice guy platonically in love with her versus cruelty and the fake, shallow glitter
of the developing Kazakhstan, where the rich decide on life (and death) of the people, even though
they might be sociopaths with a makeshift office (tent) in the desert. With a continuous, subtle
romantic plot line, this film is interesting in its exploration of the environment and the interaction of
the characters with it, their ways of addressing the issues associated with living in it. The filmmaking
is skillful, with a nice composition expressing the current mood of the characters. But it doesn’t stir
