Opisy(1)

Dołącza do nich marząca o karierze baseballistki Mae (Madonna). Zapowiada się ostra rywalizacja, nad którą pieczę sprawuje nadużywająca alkoholu była gwiazda sportu – Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks). (HBO)

angielski I admit, this film surprised me like an apparition out of the blue because until then I did not even know it existed. Sometimes it happens that I find out that back then the video rental store kept some gems hidden from me, but all the more happy I am when I come across such films from the nineties for example in TV. Tom Hanks plays such a grouch here that just watching him was a misery. And even though the film tried to convert him to the right side, at the end of the film I still considered him a pig. It was a completely different story with the female basketball players. Every single one of them was amazing. To root for them in this film came as naturally as to order a beer in a pub, drink it within five minutes and then order another one… ()

angielski Not Evita, but rather A League of Their Own - that's the absolute BEST movie with Madonna. At the same time, A League of Their Own is one of the absolute best films with a sports theme and one dealing with civilian life during World War II. The story of women's professional league baseball is a wonderful art adventure composed by the collaboration of director and producer Penny Mashall, cinematographer Miroslav Ondříček, composer Hans Zimmer, and a host of outstanding actors - led by Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Lori Petty, and ending with Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell. Madonna's hit "This Used To Be My Playground," which plays in the closing credits, is just the definitive underlining of a superb experience that doesn't lose its freshness, wit, or poignancy with each rerun. angielski There is a bit of a lack of a strong dramatic storyline, so it's more of a light sports comedy, but why not. The theme of baseball is definitely interesting, and moreover, it's not often that you see so many talented actors in one film. ()
