Australia, 1915; a Young miner decides to change his way of living, motivated by the harsh reality he has to endure, and hoping to conquer the woman he desires. Willing to do it, he enters the army to fight in World War I as he dreams of coming back home as a hero. France, 1916; the young man is in the trenches, waiting to enter the battlefield but he chickens out while all his comrades are dying.
