Queen of Lapa

An intimate and sincere glimpse into the trans sex worker community in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, Queen of Lapa follows matriarch Luana Muniz and the sex workers that live in her hostel. A sex worker since age 11, Brazilian cult figure Muniz has been a performer, actress, activist and fighter for transgender sex professionals for most of her life. Her legacy continues through her hostel, where she supports others by providing a safe living environment and motherly advice. (Sidewalk Film Festival)
