14-letnia Grace podczas przejażdżki konnej uległa poważnemu wypadkowi. Straciła nogę, a jej ukochany koń Pielgrzym został okaleczony. Dziewczynka oskarża rodziców o swoje kalectwo. Jej matka, Annie, wierzy, że córce pomoże uzdrowienie jej zdziczałego konia. Zawozi Grace i Pielgrzyma na rancho Toma Bookera, który leczy konie po traumatycznych przejściach. Redford's famous hit film based on Nick Evans. An A-list cast for the time (Robert Redford, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sam Neill) and a great human story, what more could you ask for? Perhaps only that it doesn't run out of steam (the film is incredibly slow for today’s standards) and that we don't feel that Scarlett Johansson is the only familiar face today. 20 years can't be that much of a time gap.

An excellent conversational drama with brilliant performances by Robert Redford and Scarlett Johansson. Cinematically, there is nothing wrong, it's just that not everyone likes the slow storytelling style and the relaxed pace that gradually forms the characterization of the protagonists, making the ending even more intense.

Redford clearly revels in the sophistication and patience with which he tells the story. It's almost unbelievable that a premise so close to everyday life combined with such a long runtime can work in such a great way. Perhaps it was the beautiful scenery, the flawless cast or simply Redford's directorial skills, but I wasn't bored by The Horse Whisperer even for a moment and it delivered the kind of pleasant romantic spectacle that I like to welcome from time to time.:-) The 5* are hanging there.
