This is just one of many entries on the long list of adaptations by L. Frank Baum, and it's not such a shame that it didn't work out. I can imagine countless other series that could have been great, but the pilot didn't succeed. The project closest to that one is the miniseries Tin Man and the series Once Upon a Time.
