A film about a woman who must struggle against the precariousness of her own memories. Nada, who lives in France, returns home to Lebanon. Her grandfather has been murdered by people in the village, and she thinks his body is buried somewhere within his empty house. But her brother Sam, obeying the wishes of their father, is trying to sell the home. As they quarrel, Nada begins to recover her memory, and, along with her brother and Jalal - a young man from the village - she takes a journey to find out the truth of what happened to her grandfather, finally discovering the reason why her memory is so distorted.
Recollections are selective and are easily contorted. Nada's recollections about her grandfather, whom she believed to be a good man, are even more selective. At the same time, her memories are being warped by her own guilty conscience, her grandfather's house serving as a place where her own memories have been buried. Getting them back and facing the truth will be difficult, but she becomes an adult by doing so. (Busan International Film Festival)

angielski It is clear that in this film, the director tells her own life story of a woman born in Lebanon but living in France for the majority of her life. I was intrigued by how she portrayed the life in Lebanon. However, the nice camera compensates for the otherwise quite unpleasant behavior of people towards the main character. It is clear to me that returning to an environment that you don’t find familiar anymore can be very difficult, moreover if there’s no one to help you with it. But as a form of therapy I can see how this might have been good for the director. From the filmmaking point of view, however, it is quite average, apart from the nice shots of the exotic country.
