Sima is a mother to young cancer patient Aisa who is going through treatment process. The mother accompanies the daughter in her tough journey with patience, a smile, and a hope that tomorrow might come bringing a miracle. Brillante Mendoza expresses a complex of human emotions depending on a harsh and painful reality as well as a very special life experience, in a unique cinematic style that combines animation to tell the epic tale of Princess Mindanao who casts a shadow over the civil war that tore the Philippines apart, with documentary where the camera closely follow a mother who is facing the prospects of her only child’s death with hope, amid the absence of her husband in the war.
