Rok 1960. Chuck Gieg opuszcza rodzinny dom. Przybywa do portu St. George, skąd wypływa w rejs statek szkoleniowy "Albatros". Chuck dołącza do kilkunastu innych nastolatków, którzy mają spędzić cały rok na żaglowcu na pełnym morzu. Kapitanem jest twardy marynarz wymagający od chłopców całkowitego poświęcenia i lojalności wobec kolegów. Podczas rejsu załoga musi pokonać wiele trudności. Młodzi marynarze poznają, czym są trud i prawdziwa morska przygoda. (TVP)

If you get over the extremely tacky and sentimental packaging, you can enjoy a nice movie with a charismatic Jeff Bridges and beautiful shots of the ocean, palm trees, sky, etc. But when reading the script, Ridley Scott must have known that this would be more of a relaxing experience than something that would help him develop as a filmmaker.

It's not badly shot at all, the storm scene proves that this is a Scott film. But the rest? A story not worthy of a master of grand spectacles and original art stylization. That said, I can recommend it as a film to kill an evening.
