My Fish Brian

Søren is very fond of fishing. All by himself, he sets out with his tackle and box. He knows exactly where he is going, as he has been fishing in the same lake for years. The fish are acquaintances of his; he even has a favourite one, Brian. More than three years ago, he caught Brian for the first time, when he was still a very small fish. Now, the fish is full-grown and weighs over eight pounds. Søren sees the slippery animal as his friend, someone to talk with when for example he has had a row at home and is feeling sad. He holds long conversations with Brian and is a little upset when the fish keeps him waiting. When he eventually catches him, he very carefully removes the hook from Brian’s mouth and, after greeting him, puts him back in the water. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
