Every year, the Nimwar Channel is dredged. First, the Barema Dam is broken through, allowing the water to drain from the channel. Then, the inhabitants of the villages Nimwar and Bagherabad pick up their shovels and set to work. The recurring job ends with a ritual party. The villagers hold a parade, during which the old man who is responsible for the distribution of the water from the Nimwar Channel salutes the villagers, sitting on his horse. Finally, the workers allow the water to flow back into the channel. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
